Our story

Not here to inspire you.

We are not bitter. We are hilarious. There is a difference.

Where the name comes from

Spoon theory is the idea that people with chronic illness and disability start each day with a limited number of ‘spoons’, units of energy, and have to spend them carefully on everything from getting dressed to making a phone call. Run out, and you’re done. Borrow from tomorrow’s supply, and you’ll pay for it.

We’ve always been low on spoons. We carry on anyway. The name felt right.

What this brand is

Cutlery Crisis is a print-on-demand clothing and merchandise brand built by and for the chronically ill and disabled community. We make things that make people feel seen, not pitied, not inspired at, not managed. Just seen.

The community

Culturally engaged, funny, and irreverent, with bodies that don’t always cooperate. People who showed up anyway.

This brand belongs to the people who wear it.
